Speeding in Mount Airy

I'm probably stepping into a hornet's nest here but I would really like to see speed cameras installed on Rte. 27.

I moved here, knowing that I would have a painful commute, because Mount Airy had a slower pace and friendlier people.  Just in the last year it seems that somebody has cranked up the volume.  People are driving faster and more aggressive; it's beginning to feel like I'm driving in Columbia (at least it's not yet like NOVA).

Any other opinions?

Re: Speeding in Mount Airy

Really?  I live north of Mt. Airy and I mostly encounter slow pokes on Rt. 27.

The speed limit on my street is 25 or 30.  We have kids riding their bikes and dogs not on leashes.  Many speeders race down the road, I would say they are going 50.  They really scare me.  I am afraid someone is going to get killed.  We also have a problem with two boys on their mini bikes.  They do not obey the laws either.  And I'm the one who got a ticket on Gillis Rd. and was put on probation for 1 year.  My fine was hefty so that is why I went to court and it was cut in half, but like I said, I was put on probation.
